Secretary: Department of Premier and Cabinet

NSW Premier Mike Baird has announced the NSW Government will advertise to fill the position of Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

“The Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet is a key role, and I want to ensure the position is filled by the best possible person,” Mr Baird said.

“The current Secretary Chris Eccles has informed me that he has decided not to reapply for the position.

“I respect Mr Eccles’ decision and I thank him for his hard work and diligence,” he said.

Mr Eccles’ decision to leave the department is effective immediately. Deputy Secretary Simon Smith will act as Secretary in the interim, with a permanent appointment expected to be made within the next few months. The search will consider candidates from the public and private sector, both domestically and internationally.
