Statement regarding Federal Liberal Leadership

I pay tribute to Malcolm Turnbull for his great contribution as Prime Minister of Australia and wish him and his family well for the next chapter of their lives.

In particular, he delivered for the people of NSW through prioritising the Western Sydney Airport and the Western Sydney City Deal and through the Snowy Hydro transaction, which has unlocked billions of dollars for investment in regional NSW.

I congratulate incoming Prime Minister Scott Morrison on his election as Federal Liberal Party leader and look forward to working constructively with him on improving the lives of the people of NSW.

I know Scott well, having worked closely with him when we were both Treasurers.

It is good for NSW to have a NSW-based PM who intimately understands the needs of our communities.
