Olivia Ruello was appointed CEO of Business Chicks in 2016. As Australia’s largest and most influential community for women in business, Business Chicks is committed to the personal and professional growth of women.
Over the course of her career, Olivia has been driving change and advocating for gender equality at a grass roots level. She leads with vulnerability, honesty and authenticity.
Olivia is a strong believer that if working parents are given flexibility, employers will see the benefits.
It’s important for business leaders to stay connected with team members during this time and provide the right support.
“The pillars that continue to drive me are; women’s economic security and empowerment, the advancement and development of women in leadership roles, the growth of female-led businesses, and the push to create, advocate and take action in creating mentally healthy workplaces - where everyone feels safe to be themselves.”
Prior to Business Chicks, Olivia worked at Commonwealth Bank Australia. Olivia was responsible for driving the organisational development and people capability build in Corporate Financial Services, with a focus on embedding vision and values and created a more human-centric culture.
Olivia’s focus was also on addressing the financial and enterprise gap in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Other areas of focus were immigrant and refugee women and women in hardship. She has led four immersion programs to India in partnership with The Hunger Project to advance women’s leadership.
Olivia lives in Sydney with her husband Andrew, daughter Gracie, son Henry and pug Betty
