Hunter River High School celebrates completion of major upgrade
The Minns Labor Government’s commitment to improving public schools in regional NSW is progressing with a major new upgrade at Hunter River High School unveiled today.
The upgrade will provide essential education infrastructure for Port Stephens’ growing community, giving local families access to quality education close to home.
Students will benefit from the removal of eight demountables; replaced by permanent classrooms, refurbished learning spaces, a new gymnasium with a basketball court, and improved school grounds including a new sports field.
A new student drop-off/pick-up zone has also been completed, improving access for students travelling to and from school.
The Hunter River High School upgrade is one of the major school projects being delivered in the Hunter region to accommodate a growing population.
Projects include a new public high school for Medowie and a recently completed upgrade at Irrawang High School. Redevelopments at Newcastle High School and Gillieston Public School are also underway, as well as planning and design for a new public school and high school at Huntlee.
The Minns Labor Government is continuing the work of rebuilding public education in NSW, delivering $2.1 billion over four years for new and upgraded schools in regional NSW.
