Kiama to host Minns Labor Government Community Cabinet
The NSW Government is kicking off the first Community Cabinet for 2026, hosting the forum in Kiama on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
Community Cabinet provides valuable insights into the diverse needs and opportunities of the different regions across NSW and connects communities directly with the state’s decision-makers.
The community forum will include an opportunity for community members to ask questions to the NSW Premier and Cabinet Ministers and raise matters of importance in the Kiama area.
This will be the NSW Government’s first Community Cabinet of 2026, and the tenth since forming Government, as they continue work to build a better New South Wales informed by local voices.
Previous Community Cabinets in 2025 were held in Camden, Ulladulla, Wamberal on the Central Coast and Tweed Heads. In 2024, Cabinet visited Broken Hill, Orange, Riverstone and East Hills.

“Bringing the Cabinet to Kiama is the best way to hear directly from locals about what’s important to them right now.
“These forums are a chance for myself and my team to have open and honest conversations with residents, business owners, sports clubs and volunteer groups.
“This is the first Community Cabinet of the year and I’m looking forward to heading back down to Kiama again.”
Minister for the Illawarra and the South Coast Ryan Park said:
“Kiama is a key region when you look at the broader Illawarra and South Coast, and Community Cabinet gives us a unique insight into the issues this well-connected community want addressed.
“We are pleased to meet with local residents and business owners. Their stories reflect the experiences of the people we serve to help and shapes the policies we make to support them.”
Member for Kiama Katelin McInerney said:
“I am proud to be part of a team that recognises the importance of being accessible to regional constituents and that brings our decision makers out to communities to genuinely consult and hear firsthand what our priorities are, and what further investment will need in the future.
“The Minns Labor Government is getting on with the job of delivering the long overdue infrastructure our communities deserve – building a new public school at Calderwood, delivering two new public preschools at Bomaderry and Calderwood and giving 220 teachers and school support staff permanent jobs so they can stay in our communities, as well as delivering world class hospitals on time and to budget at Shoalhaven and Shellharbour and investing in our road network, in Hampden Bridge, Macquarie Pass and Tripoli Way.”
