By Ursula Yovich and Alana Valentine. Barbara fronts a pub rock band, captivating crowds with her cutting wit and unrepentant sexuality. She may be fun, she may be dangerous, and she may be speeding headlong towards a dead end. When her sister (and fellow muso) René hears that Mum is sick, they set out on a long and winding motorbike adventure from Sydney, through Darwin, and finally to Katherine – where the pair come face to face with some home truths. Ursula Yovich (Diving for Pearls) is a force of nature at her remarkable best. The singer, actor, writer and modern songwoman is joined by Elaine Crombie (star of ABC TV’s Black Comedy and Rosehaven) in this fiercely entertaining, critically acclaimed play that is part madcap buddy comedy, part electrifying rock gig, and part clarion call against the taint of inequality. Co-authored by prolific playwright Alana Valentine (Dead Man Brake, Letters to Lindy), this effervescent play with songs sold out its original season at Belvoir, and will charm the pants off Wollongong.
