30th September 2017
'Music in the Mountains' is pleased to present Brenton Foster 6tet on their The Nature Of Light Tour throughout Australia this September and October. After feature concerts at the Stonnington and Melbourne International Jazz Festivals, the band celebrates their second album, The Nature Of Light, with a run of shows across south-eastern Australia. The Nature Of Light followed Brenton’s 2016 release, Two Cities, which was nominated for Best Jazz Album at 2016's The Age Music Victoria Awards. Brenton might not be well known outside of Melbourne, however, has featured on numerous recordings, including those by afrobeat-meet-space-jazz outfit The Shaolin Afronauts and Australian folk-rock wordsmith Max Savage. Brenton is a founding member of the piano trio, Refraction. Brenton has supported artists such as Sting and Jessica Mauboy, and shared the stage with Australian and international jazz icons, including Bob Mintzer, Mike Nock, Joe Chindamo and James Morrison. He is a mainstay of fan-favourite festivals and has appeared at the Melbourne and Wellington International Jazz Festivals, Stonnington Jazz Festival, and Falls Festival.
