Cabramatta Lunar New Year 2017 welcomes the year of the Rooster! The cultural festivities on Saturday February 11 and Sunday February 12 will feature the God of Fortune, Lion Dancing and loads of exciting entertainment for the whole family. The official ceremony by Mayor of Fairfield City Frank Carbone will be at 11am on Saturday February 11. On Sunday February 12, the traditional blessing of the Cabramatta community will take place at 10.30am. Crowds can enjoy a feast of celebratory entertainment such as cultural performances by Indonesian and Vietnamese dance groups, musical talents of students from their local high schools and a magical experience performed by The BlackTies magicians. There will be a free Flight Bird Show and an Asian-inspired pop-up rainforest, chopstick and prawn peeling competitions, cooking demonstrations, fashion, and lots of music, dance and singing. Cabramatta is only 45 minutes by train from the Sydney Central Business District, with the station at the heart of the shopping and dining precinct.
