Capturing I Do
540 Kiewa Street Albury LibraryMuseum, Albury, NSW, 2640, Australia
2nd October 2017 to 3rd December 2017
From the formal studio portraits of the 1950s to the outdoor extravaganzas of today, the way people capture their precious wedding memories has changed dramatically over the years. A name synonymous with wedding photography in Albury for much of last century was McPherson Studios, which operated in Dean Street from the 1930s to the 1980s. This exhibition looks at the ways in which weddings, love and marriage have been captured by photographers. Featuring wedding portraiture from the 1930s to 1970s, photographs by Diane Edmondson, who trained at McPherson Studios, from the 1970s to 2000s. Photographic technology, wedding gowns and film, Capturing I Do is a fun exhibition that celebrates wedding trends of the past as well as looking at what marriage means in society today and into the future.
