It’s Australia’s turn to boost Oscar Wilde’s popularity with a new musical, Dorian Gray Naked, written by veteran librettist and playwright, Melvyn Morrow (SHOUT! and Dusty) and 24 year old composer, Dion Condack. Dorian Gray is the incarnation of eternally seductive male youth of adventurous and exotic sexual disposition – lovely and lively lads up for anything and everything. Dorian’s name summons up deliciously sensual romps on an almost industrial scale and everyone knows the myth of Dorian remaining exquisitely young and virile while his portrait ages in the attic. In this two-hander musical, Dorian is given a fictional afterlife as he confronts author, Oscar Wilde, and the created tells the startling - and hitherto unknown - truth about his passionate amours and his relationship to his creator. Unlike Oscar’s merely hinted-at acts of wickedness by Dorian, our liberated hero tells it like it is, down and dirty and gloriously outrageous. After playing featured roles in Kinky Boots and Priscilla, triple music theatre threat, Blake Appelqvist, takes on the starring role of Dorian Gray. Housed in a beautiful old three level terrace, Limelight on Oxford provides an array of enticing entertainment and events, accompanied by tasty food and tantalising drinks.
