In celebration of the closing week of Vernon Ah Kee | The Island, Campbelltown Arts Centre invite you to a special high tea event hosted by Vernon Ah Kee himself.

Vernon Ah Kee is one of the most prominent and important living artists in Australia today. Spanning almost two decades, Vernon Ah Kee’s The Islandprofiles Ah Kee’s brilliantly diverse practice, offering challenging perspectives on contemporary Australian life and a critique of Australia’s tendency to shift issues off shore.

This unique event will feature the traditional accoutrements of a high tea with a contemporary twist. Beginning with tea and drinks, the evening will unfold with a performance lecture by Vernon Ah Kee based upon his artwork,Ideas of Barak (2010-11) followed by an exhibition viewing infused with gourmet culinary delights.

Ah Kee is a descendant of the Kuku Yalandji, Waanji, Yidindji, Koko Berrin and Gugu Yimithirr peoples. His work has appeared in major group exhibitions throughout Australia and internationally, and his work is held in a number of notable private and public collections in Australia and Europe.
