Hunter Valley Steamfest
Ken Tubman Drive
Maitland Shortbreak NSW 2320
18th April 2020 to 19th April 2020
Steamfest provides a fun and family friendly look into days gone by with a diverse program including historic steam train trips, vintage machinery displays and demonstrations, live music, interactive heritage walks and displays, vintage car display, market stalls, food stalls, kid’s activities and more.
Take a scenic trip north to the historic town of Paterson, which is one of the southern gateways to Dungog Shire. Your journey will start with a glimpse of Walka Water Works Picnic Reserve as you leave the city before you pass through the rolling green countryside at Mindaribba and Tocal before arriving at Paterson.
Steam journeys: As there is no ability for the steam engine to turn around at Paterson, the engine and carriages arrive and depart in the same order. This means the steam locomotive will pull the journey from Maitland to Paterson and will then be at the rear and push the return journey from Paterson to Maitland with the assistance of a heritage diesel engine.
Diesel journeys: These are aboard CPH1 and CPH7 ‘Tin Hare’ which is a diesel powered train.
