Felt making is one of the world's oldest textile traditions. From the yurts of the Mongolian plains to the heavy felted boots and coats from the icy climates of the Nordic countries, felt has been a sturdy, warm, and incredibly versatile material for centuries. Come and experience for yourself the magical process of turning soft, fluffy fibres into a stable textile. Learn how to layout fibres so they bond together into a beautiful textile. Experiment with adding other fibres like silk and bamboo, mohair, ramie and cotton. See how fabrics can be incorporated into felt using the nuno-felting technique. You will go home with a set of samples that will hopefully inspire you to explore more felt making. All materials supplied: Each participant will receive a kit containing various wool fibres, silk and cotton fabrics, and other fibres and embellishments. Additional materials will be available for purchase on the day. Limited Spaces: All classes are strictly limited to six people so that each participant has lots of space and attention from the tutor throughout the day. However, there are also no minimums, if you should be the only person to book, this event will still go ahead!
