Kate Miller-Heidke: Newcastle
Civic Park, Newcastle, NSW, 2300, Australia
15th April 2018
Kate Miller-Heidke is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose style crosses contemporary pop, folk and opera. She has released four studio albums in Australia, including the top five albums O Vertigo!, Nightflight, and Curiouser. Her songs are stamped with witty humour and poignant insight – always touching. Beyond her recorded music career, Kate Miller-Heidke has recently made forays into the world of music theatre, composing an opera The Rabbits in 2015. She has recently finished work with her collaborator Keir Nuttall on composing the music and lyrics for Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical. Now Kate is hitting the road to perform a brand new set of arrangements that combine her unique vocals and alternative pop sounds – and the guitar shredding of Keir Nuttall – with a string quartet. There will be adaptations of well-loved orchestral pieces, as well as some surprises from her back catalogue. Audiences can also expect to get a sneak peak of some new material, as Kate road-tests songs for her next album. Presented by Strut and Fret Production House in association with The Harbour Agency.
