Koala Surveys and Fungi Foray
Allyn River Forest Road, Upper Allyn, NSW, 2311, Australia
14th April 2018 to 18th August 2018
Participate in a community survey for koalas in part of Chichester State Forest in the picturesque Upper Allyn and Paterson Valleys. This area is located about one hour north-west of Dungog and two hours from Newcastle. The National Parks Association (Hunter Branch), in association with the Paterson Allyn Williams Science Hub, is organising two koala survey weekends. The April weekend will also include a talk on fungi in the area and a short walk. The Upper Allyn has been described by experts as a ‘fungi hotspot’ of great significance and worthy of conservation in a national park. Anyone with an interest is invited to attend, and the weekend is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Participants can attend for both days (preferably) or for only one day and camping is available near the Allyn River. In the event of significant rain, the koala surveys will not proceed but the fungi foray will continue.
