Experience Machi Adventure: Step Into My Home, an immersive theatre and contemporary dance show that will take participants on an adventure to a secret location in Chippendale. This machi adventure, which translates to ‘city adventure’, will see four Japanese artists take over a mystery location in Chippendale and breathe life into everyday spaces with the power of performance, ranging from solo theatre to experimental dance. Making their debut in Australia will be theatremaker Takeshi Fukuda who will guide guests to the secret location, and theatre actor Satoko Yoshida who has performed in locations throughout Europe and East Asia. It will also see the return to Australia of experimental contemporary dancer Teita Iwabuchi, and classically trained dancer Wataru Kitao who stunned audiences with his powerful performance in The Unknown Dancer in the Neighbourhood at Art Month Sydney 2017. The event is free, however space is limited. Bookings are essential and as a part of the experience, all audience members are asked to book online to start their adventure. To book your spot and for more information about the event, please visit their website. Presented by The Japan Foundation, Sydney and co-produced with Japan’s Steep Slope Studio.
