In this hands-on class you will learn how to use a pottery wheel and make your own ceramic to keep.

This workshop will introduce you to the essential skills and relevant mindset that will help you control and form the clay on the pottery wheel. You will learn about centring the clay on the pottery wheel and aligning the clay particles using the coning up and down technique. You'll have some fun experimenting with these techniques and opening the clay to create basic vessels.

Working on the pottery wheel requires steady hands and a focused mind. The wheelful approach to pottery integrates the psychology of mindfulness by encouraging you to reflect on how your ability to master the clay on the spinning wheel is influenced by your mental and emotional state.
