Sally Coppard: Is There Still Life?

22nd February 2018 to 1st March 2018
17th century still life paintings depicted both the bountifulness of creation and the fleetingness of time. Sally Coppard’s Is There Still Life? reinterprets this idea through paintings examining 21st century fears: has time ran out for the bountifulness of nature on this planet? Will there still be life? Following the loss of a loved one, the artist also looks at themes of loss and mortality from a personal level, asking herself the question: is there still life? Coppard paints with oil, making some of her own paint, in dark, rich hues.
