Start your silversmithing journey with this five-week (30 hour) intensive programme aimed at giving you the skills and confidence to produce your own designs. You will be introduced to a range of tools and equipment in a professional studio setting with an equal emphasis on fun and safety. Encouraged and supported every step of the way, you will develop the skills, techniques and confidence required to start producing your own designs. They'll meet every Sunday from 10am to 4pm for five consecutive weeks. The first four weeks focus on developing fundamental skills through practical projects. The fifth week is reserved for working on your own personal project, with the help and guidance of your tutor. Week One: botanical bookmark (saw piercing and basic bench skills). Week Two: textured rings (measuring, soldering, forming, texturing and finishing). Week Three: forged bangle (measuring, forging, soldering, texturing and finishing). Week Four: bezel setting (saw piercing, soldering, setting and finishing). Week Five: personal project (fabricate a design of your choice). Snacks and drinks plus all tools and materials required to get you started will be supplied, including sterling silver sheet and wire.
