Studio Woodworkers Australia (SWA) is the premier organisation of designers and makers in wood. Its biennial national exhibition named Chatoyance is currently on at Sturt Wood School in Mittagong until Sunday April 8. All lovers of fine furniture and other fine timber pieces are invited and entry is free. The opening on Sunday February 18 was a great success with 40 quality pieces on display. Eight of the pieces worth over AUD20,000 sold on the day. The 2018 Exhibition provides you with the opportunity to engage very personally with the wide range of work that SWA represents, to see and buy pieces and/or to identify master makers to help you design and make your own furniture. As well as displaying the quality works of many of their accredited members – namely David Uphill-Brown, Leon Sadubin, Phoebe Everill, Roy Schack, Andrew Pinnock, Alby Johnston, Warwick Wright, Will Matthysen, Grant Vaughan, Darren Fry, Damion Fauser, David Muston, Peter Young, Richard Crosland, Thirston Morris and Raf Nathan – attendees have noted the high quality in craftsmanship of their (mainly younger) general members’ pieces on display, made under the mentoring of SWA accredited members.
