Australia’s only 30 member and internationally-acclaimed Russian folk orchestra is dedicated to the folk music of Russia, and will perform a concert in the stunning acoustics of the Sisters' Chapel at the Sisters of Mercy Convent, Singleton.
Under the direction of Victor Serghie, Sydney Balalaika Orchestra will perform an exciting and creative program with Russian vocalists and a dazzling instrumental performances played on authentic folk instruments, including the balalaika.
Their repertoire includes light classical and traditional folk music. The performers share their love for the beauty of authentic Russian folk music, where mellow, melancholic themes are juxtaposed by lively, energetic melodies.
As well as performing throughout NSW, Victoria and the ACT for the last 30 years, they have also undertaken extensive tours in Russia and China, as well as New Zealand.
The acoustics of their stunning Sisters’ Chapel will make this a wonderful return concert for the Orchestra! This concert is part of the 2019 Sacred Spaces Fine Music Concert Series.
