Twilight Musical Dialogues - Philanthropist's Choice Concert
52 Church Street, Newcastle, NSW, 2300, Australia
22nd October 2017
A new concept from Twilight Musical Dialogues (TMD) brings Newcastle's Christchurch Cathedral to life with a unique celebration of philanthropic support of the arts, which goes back to the time of Shakespeare. In Newcastle, the relationship between donors and artists has led to creative partnerships and as a way of honouring its donors, TMD presents "Philanthropists Choice" - a program comprising the musical choices of our givers, ranging from Pachebel's Canon to Rumanian Pan-Pipe Music and a new composition by outstanding Nova Castrian, David Banney. Internationally claimed flautist and TMD Artistic Director Sally Walker will perform the world premiere of David Banney's "Psalms" with Mezzo Soprano Jenny Duck-Chong, Artistic Director of celebrated Sydney-based award winning ensemble Halcyon and mentor to TMD. The piece was created as part of a larger project to feature the architecture and acoustics of Australian cathedrals. Joining Sally on flute will be Young accordionist Neil Simpson (TMD featured young artist), Flautists Hannah Caterer (TMD Operations Manager and Youth Performer in Quirindi) , Sarah Mepham (TMD hospitality, who performed with Sally at The Australian Flute Festival) and Sarah Monk (who performed Indian music on the Menu for TMD Australia), with Cathedral organist Peter Guy.
