The Australian Museum is pleased to announce the launch of a new tour experience led by Aboriginal guide who will provide an immersive insight into Indigenous Australian cultures, weaving personal stories of their own country, culture and experiences in a one-hour tour of the Frist Australians galleries Bayuala Nura and Garrigarrang.
The tour experience called Waranara: First nations Tour means 'to seek' in the local Dharug language and emphasises the strengths of the First Nations cultures and their connection to the land, sea and sky.
Learn about the beliefs and lifestyles of the world's oldest living culture, dating back over 65,000 years, in the country's oldest museum, with this personalised guided tour in the heart of Sydney.
With one of the largest collections of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural objects, the museum provides custodial care to more than 20,000 Indigenous Australian body ornaments, tools, bark paintings, toys, weapons and contemporary art and sculpture from across the country.
Waranara is an engaging experience that takes audiences on a guided journey into the diversity and beauty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander cultures. This journey is told through an array of their cultural objects featured in the museum's galleries.
