Connect to your creativity in a warm, friendly environment. Develop technical proficiency and enjoy the pleasure and infinite possibilities of the beautiful world of watercolour painting using images and objects to create gentle and spectacular effects. Students are taught the basic skills of drawing, composition and tonal values in addition to watercolour techniques and colour mixing. All skill levels are catered for: beginners start with an introduction to watercolour painting, more experienced students may either join in, with the tutor’s coaching, or continue with their own topics. Beginners spend the first three weeks developing basic skills in the use of paint and water: Week One – start a simple still-life piece to learn drawing and other techniques which will be applied over the rest of the term. Week Two – work with three shades of white to create a still-life Week Three – learn to loosen-up and get daring with the use of colour. After these first three weeks, you may either continue with the program as set by the tutor, or, if feeling confident, you may strike out on your own with topics which inspire you, supervised by the tutor.
