Batik uses fine lines of hot wax to create patterns on cloth, which is then dipped or painted with dye, before the wax is removed. Under Jinni's tuition you will learn the basic tools and techniques of Batik so that you may begin experimenting with the diversity of this unique style. Students will complete a scarf sized project on the day, from the planning & design, to the wax application with traditional canting tools, painting with fabric dye, and learning the finishing techniques. Jinni will inspire you with her enthusiasm for this traditional art form, and nourish you will a delicious home cooked Thai meal.
