In 1914, a group of Albury men went to war while their friend Frank Brown, who was refused entry into the Australian Imperial Force, stayed behind. Their letters to Frank reveal some of the realities of World War I: boredom and weariness, life behind the lines, experiences of battle, and censorship. A selection of these letters will be on display to showcase this significant collection and pay tribute to one of the letter writers, Captain Leslie Hewish, who was killed in action in Belgium on October 5, 1917.
