The new fire station will replace the Hay Street Station. The station has served the local community since 1958, but no longer meets the needs of today’s fire-fighters.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Stuart Ayres said the new station will be equipped with advanced facilities “worthy of a modern fire service”.

“The site is ideally located to provide fire-fighters with easy access to and from main roads in Port Macquarie, and the new station will service the needs of fire-fighters and the community well into the future,” Mr Ayres said.

The new station will accommodate three fire engines, a hazardous materials van, a boat and trailer and will incorporate facilities for fire-fighters to refill breathing cylinders. It will also provide office space for the zone management team.
