Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay said the facility will improve grain handling standards, with new grain bulk storage facilities and better access for large bulk carriers.

The $75 million project is set to be completed by the end of 2015. The facility is expected to create 75 new jobs in construction and employ around 10 new staff when fully operational.

Mr Gay said the facility is designed to receive grain by rail, linking in with the existing Inner Harbour Rail freight system.

“The facility will make a significant contribution to local productivity, increasing Port Kembla’s share of the grain market and improving the competition throughout the grain growing regions of NSW”, Mr Gay said.
