Ayres new Minister for Police and Emergency Services
Mr Baird, who also promoted former Treasury Parliamentary Secretary Matthew Mason-Cox to the NSW Cabinet, said he was delighted to reward Stuart Ayres for his passion and dedication to his roles as Fair Trading Minister, Minister for Sport, Minister Assisting the Premier on Western Sydney and Recreation and Member for Penrith.
“He thoroughly deserves the challenge of the key Police and Emergency Services portfolio, and I know that he will continue to work hard to improve frontline delivery across this state”, said Mr Baird.
Mr Ayres’ appointment comes at a time when police numbers are at record highs due to 550 extra police being employed since December 2011.
Mr Ayres will also retain his roles as Minister for Sport and Recreation, and Minister Assisting the Premier on Western Sydney.
In further NSW Cabinet changes, Andrew Constance will take on additional responsibility with the portfolio of Industrial Relations and Rob Stokes will take on Minister for the Central Coast, while Duncan Gay will take on the role of Government Leader of the NSW Legislative Council.
