Barangaroo takes shape at open day
The free event held in late June, showcased the ongoing development of Headland Park, Barangaroo South and Central Barangaroo. The project also includes a pedestrian walkway, set to link Barangaroo with the upgraded Wynyard Station in 2015.
The $6 billion transformation has already begun to take shape, with Barangaroo’s first building - The White Bay Cruise Terminal winning major awards at the 2014 NSW Architecture Awards.
Once complete, Barangaroo is expected to inject over $1.5 billion into the NSW economy annually.
Visitors were particularly impressed with the Headland Park development, which is inspired by the 1836 shoreline. The headland will feature around 70,000 plants, shrubs and trees native to Sydney, with the landmark Port Jackson Fig Tree, the first tree planted in early May 2014.
