Design the classrooms of the future

Published 24th November, 2017 in Education

The NSW Department of Education is calling on the construction and design community to develop new classrooms that are fast to build, cost effective and meet the future learning needs of students.

NSW public school students

Education Minister Rob Stokes posed the challenge to design new permanent buildings that respond to the growth in public school students.

“We’re looking for innovative designs that will deliver high-quality classrooms that are great spaces to learn,” Mr Stokes said.

The building type must be flexible enough to be customised for individual schools, including school halls and libraries. They could be delivered in multi-storey, multi-classroom blocks.

NSW public schools will require another 7200 permanent classrooms over the next 15 years as enrolment numbers grow.

The NSW Department of Education is holding an industry briefing on 30 November. To find out more, email [email protected]
