Community consultations have begun to identify and preserve future transport corridors of South West Sydney to assist with planning for growth in Sydney’s west.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said South West Sydney’s population is expected to grow by more than 300,000.

“With more than 300,000 new residents expected to move into the South West Growth Centre in the next 30 years, we need to plan to connect these new communities and the Western Sydney airport to public transport and Sydney’s major arterial roads,” said Mr Constance.

The identification of future transport corridors in South West Sydney is part of the NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan, which includes the NSW Freight and Ports Strategy and the State Infrastructure Strategy.

The public can have their say on the identification of potential future transport corridors in the next two months, with results to be presented to the community for feedback at a later date.
