The statewide workshops are an opportunity for members of the local community to participate in the development of the strategy to improve outcomes for women.

The workshops will be held on the following dates:

  • 18 May: Sydney CBD
  • 9 June: Newcastle
  • 13 June: Wagga Wagga
  • 19 June: Broken Hill
  • 28 June: Lismore
  • 30 June: Batemans Bay
  • TBC: Tamworth

Hosted by Minister for Women Tanya Davies, the first session was held in Penrith this week and focused on addressing key problems, including economic empowerment, identity, and leadership.

Mrs Davies said community participation is key to identify and overcome the impacts of inequities and discrimination experienced by women and girls.

“It is essential that any strategy to tackle these problems includes the diverse experiences, perspectives, strengths and needs of women and girls from right across NSW,” Mrs Davies said.

The strategy is due for release later this year.
