More parking for train commuters

Finding a car park close to the train station will soon be easier for commuters, following the progressive release of 1200 staff car parks across NSW.

Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said that one of the biggest issues for train commuters was finding a car park close to the station, and that it was important to get more cars off the road by encouraging people to use public transport.

The 1200 spaces will become progressively available during the next 12-18 months, with some being available within days.

The top 20 stations (according to number of spaces to be released) are:

  • Campbelltown – around 179 spaces (99 previously announced)
  • Blacktown – around 138 spaces (84 previously announced)
  • Penrith – around 138 spaces (77 previously announced)
  • Liverpool – around 108 spaces (56 previously announced)
  • Woy Woy – around 56 spaces (8 previously announced)
  • Newcastle – around 39 spaces
  • Wollongong – around 38 spaces
  • Gosford – around 30 spaces (26 previously announced)
  • Rockdale – around 28 spaces
  • Hornsby – around 21 spaces
  • Bankstown – around 20 spaces
  • Lithgow – around 20 spaces
  • Mt Victoria – around 20 spaces
  • Springwood – around 19 spaces
  • Hamilton – around 19 spaces
  • Cronulla – around 17 spaces (17 previously announced)
  • Katoomba – around 16 spaces
  • Moss Vale – around 16 spaces
  • Richmond – around 15 spaces
  • Granville – around 12 spaces
