New Lego movie showcases NSW’s talent
With NSW Government support, the blockbuster movie was produced at leading Sydney animation and visual effects studio, Animal Logic for Hollywood studio Warner Bros.
The movie took two years to produce and:
- Injected around $48 million into the NSW economy.
- Had more than 200 people working on its production.
- Will help attract more work from major studios, including The Lego Movie sequel.
The government helped secure the movie’s production through NSW Trade and Investment’s State Investment Attraction Scheme.
NSW Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner said the movie was very much a NSW creation and reflects the depth of local film industry talent.
“The fact that a Hollywood studio chose to make one of their major titles in Sydney, using the expertise of our highly skilled animation, digital effects and post production specialists, shows the high regard internationally for our film industry,” he said.
During its release in the US, The Lego Movie surpassed Happy Feet as the biggest animated picture opener of all time for Warner Bros.
The Lego Movie is slated for a 3 April 2014 release in Australia.
