A new campus for the Nambucca Vocational College will focus on delivering quality training for aged care services.

Funded through the government’s Smart and Skilled program, the college will help support the region’s growing aged care sector by delivering pre-traineeship training in aged care.

Qualified professionals will guide the training and courses are structured to ensure participants are job-ready when they graduate.

The new campus was funded by Nambucca Valley Care (NVC) and features four modular classrooms including a lab, meeting rooms and student facilities.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Skills John Barilaro said 60 per cent of trainees had completed their traineeship and attained qualifications since February 2015.

“Many are now working at Nambucca Valley Care’s aged care facilities Autumn Lodge and Riverside Gardens, with the remaining 17 continuing training,” Mr Barilaro said.

Current Nambucca Valley Care staff are also undertaking training through Smart and Skilled to transition into leadership roles in the organisation.
