NSW food companies invited to sign up for Singapore promotion
Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade & Investment Andrew Stoner announced during his South East Asian trade mission in October that the NSW Government had secured a strategic collaboration with Cold Storage, a major supermarket chain with more than 55 stores across Singapore.
Mr Stoner said the initiative would allow NSW food growers and producers direct access to a significant supermarket chain in a major market.
“South East Asia has a large, fast-growing consumer market which represents a strong opportunity for NSW growers and producers to win new export business,” Mr Stoner said.
“Our collaboration with Cold Storage will allow NSW agrifood producers and processors to pitch their products direct to Cold Storage buyers and possibly gain shelf space in the company’s supermarkets.
“An opportunity also exists for NSW food producers to participate in a NSW-focused Made in Australia in-store promotion in March 2014 across Cold Storage Singapore outlets.
“To date, we have received 15 expressions of interest from businesses across the Sydney, Central Coast, Hunter, Northern Rivers and Murray regions, producing a wide range of fresh food and groceries such as meats, seafood, fruits and vegetables, pasta, chocolate, breads, biscuits and cakes.”
NSW growers and producers interested in pitching their products to Cold Storage should register their interest by December 13.
