NSW Productivity Commission to improve living standards
Led by the NSW Productivity Commissioner, the commission will focus on:
- making it easier to do business
- lowering the cost of living
- making housing more affordable
- making NSW the easiest state to move to.
Businesses spend approximately over $10 billion each year complying with regulations across all levels of government.
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said ongoing reform is needed to continue to fuel NSW’s economy and improve living standards for everyone who lives and works in the state.
“The commissioner will ensure a user-centred approach to regulation that is responsive to users’ needs and changes in the market,” Mr Perrottet said.
After the commissioner is announced, an online portal will allow citizens and businesses to identify regulatory roadblocks and provide fresh ideas.
