Minister for Ageing John Ajaka said that he was proud that the government had delivered the largest NSW Senior’s Week ever, and highlighted a $1.5 million investment to support the staging of local events, including the Premier’s Gala Concert.

“It was a year of firsts as well, with the government introducing Local Achievement Awards so that communities can recognise the contribution of their seniors”, Mr Ajaka said.

“I attended a number of events across Sydney and was impressed to see the impact (that) events staged by these small organisations make to their communities”.

Mr Ajaka said that the government’s vision for a healthy, vibrant, active ageing population would be further strengthened by the success of this year’s Seniors Week.

“The NSW Government looks forward to building on this year’s success, ensuring that NSW Seniors Week continues to be the largest event for seniors in the southern hemisphere.”
