Out of School Hours Care
The $20 million Before and After School Care Fund will provide up to 45,000 additional places for students requiring Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) in government and non-government schools.
Funding for the program forms part of the 2015-16 NSW Budget released on 23 June.
Grant applications of up to $20,000 will be available from August for schools wanting to establish new OSHC. The grants can be used for fit-out costs, tendering or establishment costs, or to pay for necessary equipment to support the new service.
Minister for Early Childhood Education Leslie Williams said that the funds would make it easier for schools to offer the much needed service for students.
“We want to make it easier for working parents to access before and after school care services and we will increase the number of OSHC places across the State by helping schools with the cost of establishing a service,” Mrs Williams said.
