Sydney Town Hall Station to receive $8 million makeover
Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said the makeover of the CBD transport hub was long overdue, and pledged to make Town Hall Station a more appealing and user-friendly environment for customers.
“Customers have long told us that Town Hall looks tired and out-dated and this is the biggest change in 30 years that will breathe some life into one of Sydney’s busiest stations,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“This is another Customer First initiative that is a direct response to customer feedback and I’m pleased that the Town Hall makeover is now underway, on top of a wider station refresh program at 19 key stations across the network.”
The work at Town Hall is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and will be done outside of the busy peaks, overnight and during weekend possessions to reduce the potential impact on customers.
In addition to the improvements at Town Hall, a wider station refresh program is underway which will see around $20 million spent on improving a number of key stations; including Martin Place, Bondi Junction, Blacktown, Burwood, Hurstville, Kogarah, Parramatta, Redfern, St Leonards and Strathfield.
