As part of the Coffs Harbour airport upgrade, the main passenger apron can now handle five large aircraft instead of four and heavier aircraft, such as the B737 and A320, which can carry up to 220 passengers.
Other upgrades include:
- extra amenities added to the arrivals concourse
- extra check-in counter
- relocation of the Qantas lounge
- relocation of staff and office quarters.
The airport is one of the largest regional airports in NSW, connecting over 350,000 passengers to major hubs and rural areas each year.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the airport upgrade was a fantastic milestone for the Coffs Harbour community.
“The investment will see greater capacity for business travel and tourists, boosting visitation, and in turn generating spending in the local economy,” Mr Barilaro said.
The upgrade received $5.1 million from the NSW Government’s Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund to improve the airport’s terminal, apron and airside.
