Delivering more social housing

26 February 2016
The plan to deliver an estimated $2.5 billion of new social, private and affordable housing and housing infrastructure to the heart of Sydney’s West has begun.

The plan kicks off with one of Sydney’s most run-down housing estates, Telopea, which will receive a major redevelopment.

Telopea is part of the NSW Government’s Future Directions in NSW Social Housing, a 10-year blueprint for delivering more housing, better opportunities for independence and better services for vulnerable households.

Minister for Family and Community Services and Social Housing Brad Hazzard said that Telopea’s future will be reshaped for the better.

“We’re building lots more social housing, a huge boost to private housing with better outcomes and opportunities for all in our community,” Mr Hazzard said.

“We are starting consultation with the residents about the master plan and its vision for new social, private and affordable housing, parks and community facilities.”

Telopea will be positioned along the new Parramatta Light Rail network.
