Disaster assistance for farmers

Disaster assistance has been extended to primary producers and farmers in the local government areas of Dungog, Great Lakes, Maitland, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Singleton, Brisbane Waters, the parish of Branxton, parish of Heddon and parish of Stockrington.

Assistance is being provided under the federal state Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.

Primary Producers, farmers and Oyster growers in Port Stephens and Brisbane Waters, who are recovering from damage caused by severe flooding and storms will be provided with a clean–up and recovery grant of up to $15,000.

Disaster assistance will help primary producers and farmers to:

  • repair or replace equipment
  • salvage crops
  • restore pastures and
  • buy grain or feed.

The Dungog Community Support Worker Project has also been allocated $145,000 to provide practical and emotional support to families and individuals who experienced significant damage and distress.
