First sod turned on $580 million Berry Bypass
The Foxground and Berry bypass project is an upgrade to the 11.6 km stretch of 4-lane highway between Toolijooa Road and Schofields Lane on the Princes Highway.
The project is a major upgrade that is set to improve road safety, reduce travelling times and create approximately 400 construction jobs in the South Coast and Illawarra regions.
Early work on the project began in September 2014. The construction is expected to cause some short-term inconvenience to local communities and the visitors to the region. The road is due to open to traffic by mid-2018.
The $580 million Foxground and Berry bypass upgrade is the most significant transport infrastructure investment in the South Coast and Illawarra regions.
