Free apprenticeships to build skilled NSW workforce
NSW apprentices that begin their training on or after 1 July 2018 may be eligible for a free apprenticeship, in any course funded under the Smart and Skilled program at TAFE and non-TAFE providers.
There are 121 different apprenticeship courses on offer, in industries including construction, aviation and cooking.
Skills Minister John Barilaro said the state needs more apprentices to continue to deliver the NSW Government’s program of capital works on roads, rail, schools and hospitals.
“This sort of free training offer has never been made before, so I encourage people thinking about skilling up, or starting a new career to make the most of it.”
The 100,000 free apprenticeships will be on offer over the next four years and include all courses currently funded under the Smart and Skilled program.
