Mobile boost for Brewarrina and Wilcannia
More than 800 homes and businesses in Brewarrina and Wilcannia will benefit from the NSW Government’s $5.5 million agreement with OneWiFi and Pivotel.
The agreement will deliver two new mobile towers offering 4G and 5G voice and data services, and covering 1,350 square kms and bring mobile tower and network infrastructure sharing into reality in regional NSW.
The Regional Digital Connectivity program is leading the way nationally by pushing for government-funded telecommunications infrastructure to be shared, and the network made available for use by multiple carriers.

OneWiFi and Pivotel have welcomed the grant funding support.
“We are excited to partner with the NSW Government to move away from legacy models and take real steps toward a future that serves the interests of all customers and industry participants equally,” OneWiFi Managing Director Mevan Jayatilleke said.
“We’ve worked hard to develop alternative commercial and technical sharing models through the active sharing program and are proud to be the first mobile network operator in this innovative investment by the NSW Government,” Pivotel Chief Executive Peter Bolger said.
The agreement is the first signed as part of the $30 million Active Sharing Partnership grant opportunity, released in 2022.
This initiative is part of the Regional Digital Connectivity program and funded through the Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund.
