The NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) has released the Top 100 baby names list for 2016.
There are some interesting changes in baby name trends:
- Olivia and Oliver have taken out the number one spots for the second time in three years.
- Classic names are making a comeback, such as Leo, Henry and Max for boys. Evelyn was the 18th most popular baby name.
- Scarlett and Matilda for girls, and Charlie and Cooper for boys, have dropped out of the Top 20 baby names in the state.
- Harper ranked 19th as the most popular name for newborn girls, although it was regarded as a boy’s name in the 1800s.
