New appointments to NSW International Education Advisory Board
The NSW International Education Advisory Board (IEAB) welcomes two new appointments, Professor Renée Leon PSM (Vice‑Chancellor and President, Charles Sturt University) and Weihong Liang (President, International Students Representative Council of Australia), to help guide the strategic direction of Study NSW and ensure the state’s international education sector remains resilient and globally competitive.
The new members bring senior leadership and sector representation across higher education and international student advocacy.
Professor Leon contributes extensive experience in public administration and university leadership, while Mr Liang brings a strong track record in representing and advocating for international students at a state and national level.
Together, they will provide valuable expertise across policy, governance, international engagement and student experience, supporting the NSW Government's priorities for a high-quality, inclusive and globally competitive international education sector.
The IEAB meets three times a year and provides independent expert advice to inform Study NSW's strategic direction in alignment with the NSW Government’s priorities and policies including the NSW Industry Policy and the NSW Trade and Investment Strategy, supporting NSW’s $21 billion international education sector.
