“The opening of Costco Crossroads demonstrates a confidence in the Western Sydney economy,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“Costco Crossroads will provide a significant investment in the local area – almost 400 jobs have been created and the warehouse will be open to the public seven days a week.
“This fits with the NSW Government’s plan to create jobs closer to where people live because it reduces congestion on our roads and allows more family time.
“The introduction of Costco Crossroads will increase competition and place downward pressure on the price of consumer goods.
“Costco is a household name in the US. It’s the third largest retailer in America and one of the top ten retailers in the world.
“The company opened its first outlet in NSW in 2009, and I’m pleased to see Costco has decided to expand its presence in this State by opening a second warehouse.
“NSW is a great place to do business, and our ability to attract one of the world’s biggest goods and retail warehouse chains to Casula is reflective of that.
“Costco’s presence in NSW could also lead to opportunities for successful NSW-based suppliers that may be able to expand their operations to the company’s warehouses around the world.
“The company has expressed an interest in opening more stores across Sydney and expanding into regional NSW in the future. I would welcome such a vote of confidence in the NSW economy,” Mr O’Farrell said.
